204 Jackson Ave, Rutherford, NJ

…is a renovation project which came to be largely out of necessity of a growing family. The decision to retain the original 1920s colonial and create a modern addition was the thought and sketch of two brothers which Messana O’Rorke brought to physical life. Unlike much of the surrounding houses in the town, this domicile aims to preserve both the history of Rutherford while simultaneously gesturing in the direction of a more sleek and minimal future. The home is very functional while maintaining important connections to the original structure which was built in the early 1920s, while the renovation implements modern design techniques nearly 100 years later. The town’s rooted yet progressive mentality is perfectly captured at 204
